Thank you for the Music

I was never trained to Sing. Nor was I trained to play. But I used to sing as a child and desired to play. For some reason I did not. Its not that my parents didn't encourage me, because they sent me to a dance school.

I got trained in Kathak (Indian Classical Dance form) for a while. When I was growing up and got out of school I met this big lot of friends in my college days. And its quite surprising that, we all turned to be good friends. We all probably bonded, because we had music in u,s in some form. Either we liked to sing or play or some of us liked to just listen and enjoy. Sometimes you need people to appreciate too :)

After I moved places, I missed my friends. Its difficult to call them all the time, and its never the same as it used to be. But after I am over the phase of missing-them-and-feeling-sad to enjoy-the-moment-with-them-in-my-heart phase the thing that reminds me of my friends the most is music. I bought a guitar recently. I always wanted to, but never did. And I intend to learn it as well. However, right now I am just enjoying the pretentious me! Hope you enjoy it too.

Vintage Girl

So I basically love this head accessory. Its cute and very vintage. While everyone is planning for Coachella, I am planning for the vintage ball at the Governor's Island this summer. Call me crazy. I bought this a long time back, and since have been wondering when to wear it. With the onset of Spring and hopes of summer, its out of the closet. Don't you think its beautiful?

I just realized that I am developing some sort of shoe fetish. I google, look at shoes online and drool over it. Silly me! I prefer shoes without heels a lot, because they are so comfortable. Of course, but then I like heels too.

Sabon...

I don't believe, that I have still! not written about Sabon... I found these bottles today, as I was considering to replenish the stock, hence the empty bottles, and I apologize for that. There are more, but since i love these bottles so much, and I feel these artisan like bottles are a great fit for the kitchen, hence that's where they are.

It started off when I had come to New York right after getting married in March 2012. Like new young couples, we decided to go on a date. We got off near 9th street, to walk towards a wine place, and on our way, we spotted this quaint little store called 'Sabon'

We entered it, I still don't know why as even M didn't protest. We entered and we were invited to try some of their products, in a well like sink that you would find at all the stores, and they smelled so heavenly and felt so amazing on our skins that we immediately bought a bath salt. And there it began.

I have gone back to Sabon stores again and again, whenever I had a little budget as its not very cheap, but they do last a very long time. Also, they give you that spa like experience with their natural oils and salts. Its so good, that I don't mind treating myself once in a while.

My favorites are the Rose Tea and Patchouli Lavender Vanilla rang. Visit Sabon to explore more.

Another Era

Do you sometimes feel that you belong to another era? Well I do, like I was particularly feeling very 1960s this afternoon. It of course calls for the 'big' hair, which I started off as a french bun, but ended up being something more interesting. I love it! and the long flickered eye, the pastel, non-shimmer colors, they all took me far far away...to Another Era!

Gifted

This Shawl/Stole is a gift from my mother. She bought it for me when she had gone on a holiday thinking that she would gift it to me when I get married. Its amazing how lucky one can be, to be in people's thoughts all the time, even when your are not with them. I never imagined, that life would turn out so exciting and full of love. May be I am talking about the realization of love, for, it was always there. Loving parents, friends, family an now husband.

Last year when I visited India, it turned out rather sad. I lost my grandmother and a close friend. They were both suffering and were ill. But the strangest part is though I was in India at that time, I was not present in that city when it happened. When my grandmother passed away I was in Mumbai, and already had plans to visit her 2 days later. But it happened 2 days before than that. And my friend passed away, when I had left for Kolkata already. 2 days before I was supposed to.

I have realized that I haven't been able to accept it completely. Deaths of 2 close people, together is unacceptable. Sometimes I get up in the morning thinking that, may be things could be different. But then it couldn't be, Could it?

But for now, I think of it very selfishly and want to acknowledge the people who have me in their thoughts, because I don't want to reach late this time.

I can fly

My dream is to fly, over the rainbow so high

I bought this deal on on LivingSocial for Learn to Fly at the Global Aviation Corp at Long Island in NY, and I thought that this is my opportunity. It was a 2 hour long lesson for me and M. We could choose an airport within a certain radius and we chose Bridgeport at Connecticut. It was the most unexpectedly amazing experience of my life.

I have decided to make this year the year of adventures, and surely there are more coming up. But looking at the way it has started, it looks way more promising than I thought it would be. I had an experienced instructor sitting next to me, with controls. Of course. And we cruised through the wind above the beautiful, blue Hudson. It was fabulous, and I would recommend it to everyone!
