Beauty Update

I went missing from blogging for a while after my move in to my new apartment. However, I have been buying products and testing them, and have now come up with a few favorites. These are all kind of products and not a particular kind. Here is what I think.

1. Josie Maran Argan Color Stick 

What I really love about them is the healthy glow it gives. And as we are getting closer to winter, dry dull skin has its answers here. It has healthy argan oil, which means every time i apply I also add a level of moisturizing. Which means, peeling dry skin, becoming visible during winter, over the layers of makeup is not an option anymore.

2. Claudalie Hand And Nail Cream

I won't say this is the ultimate product, but I like it. I usually prefer creams with great smell as it not only keeps hand moisturized but also fragrant. This one does have the smell of a rich cream but then, this is also a matter of personal choice. Some may actually like the fragrance. However, as a hand cream, merely doing its job, I think its great.

3. Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush

I have realized from several trial and errors that a foundation brush can make a whole lot of difference. I always hated pushing the product into my skin, when I applied it with hands and ended up testing quite a few products. My last one was a Sonia Kashuk brush, which I did not like at all. But after moving onto the Tarte foundation brush I realized that the  structure of an applicator is the biggest factor. Its bamboo handle makes it convenient to hold and soft bristles are easy on the skin. also, the unique square shape I thought, made application quite convenient. I never have to use my hands anymore and it does give a great airbrush finish. A big thumbs up for this one.

4. Clarins Sunscreen Cream High Protection

This product spreads onto the skin like milk and quickly evaporates. Doesn't leave any milky/ greasy residue on the skin. Its great for the face. I often use it under my foundation. I won't recommend it for the pool though, but for everyday use, I think its fantastic!


5. Claudalie Vinopure Purifying Mask

This one left my face clean. Clean that makes your skin feel that its breathing! I clean my face throughly before using it. First use a blackhead removing strip, then massage oil on my face thoroughly and then wash it with a face scrub. After which I apply the mask. Now, you would say that that's half the job done for the mask, but you got to try it to believe. It does make the skin breathe without making it dry like some of the other clarifying masks.

6. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation with SPF 15

This one does stay on for a very very long time. And there is more to it. It covered my 'large' pores around my nose area. When I say pore read massive. It didn't sit on it and emphasize but just glided over. I love this stuff and it is medium to full coverage too, but doesn't feel heavy at all. Love.

Look who is Blushing?

If you are a fan of medieval English stories and films based on them, then you probably know that pinching the cheek to produce that rosy glow is critical before meeting a suitor. A bit of color does the magic. Usually we put in a lot of effort to accentuate our eyes and choosing the right color for our lips. Here are some color rescues that I have come to love over a period of time.

No7 Perfectly Bronzed Pearls - Sunkissed

If you are thinking that why would I include this product as it's a bronzer and not a blush? But the fact is, the sheen in these bronzing pearls are so beautiful, that it adds the most amazing color and sheen to the cheeks. 

L'Oréal True Match Super Blendable Blush Apricot Kiss

I think they are being honest when they say super blendable! 

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée in Pink Escape

Oh I am in love or what? This product has the most awesome effect on your cheeks. You would glow like a morning dew. The only negative is, why is it in that jar? You can also use it on your lips and eyes. However, for your lips pair it with a light lip balm. 

NARS The Multiple in Orgasm

Another favorite. I think I totally love this color. This is the perfect product, if you are traveling to that beach resort and you want a multi functioning product (which by the way most products are). It's beautiful on your skin gives you glow. Even better it's in a stick.

The Quick Makeup

A lot of time I do not have the luxury of spending enough time to cover every zit or mark on my face, get the  'right' glow and create the perfect smoky eyes. However, that doesn't mean that I would sacrifice looking good. Or sometimes, you need to show that you have put in effort to look good. These also are my usual handbag regulars, whether I am flying or rushing to be somewhere, this little kit stays along.

The basics of this process is to find what is that one thing we need to address on our face. Are they your eyebrows, or marks on your face or is it a bit of glow? Once we have that answer, we can then choose the 'right' product. The right product is always important, however, one needs to keep going back and forth a couple of times to make it right. I prefer to research some and leave the rest to the experts. I usually shop at Sephora, and I do take my advice from the professionals present there.

Also I would advice using as many cream based products as possible, as they give you enough healthy glow and are easy to apply.

#eye Favorites

I usually invest quite a bit on my eye makeup. I love bold under eye, vibrant upper eye, subtle eyes with browns. See them here, here, here and here. Its obvious that I have a list of my personal favorites. Beauty routine doesn't stop with he make up we wear but also the care we take.Hence this list includes them all.

1.Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Tube - Original (Click here)

I started liking it only once I realize that, after applying and a blending in the little dot of the product you need to let it dry. So I apply it after my foundation then finish my face makeup and then move on to the eyes. My make up stays put all day and looks great too as it's really easy to blend.

2.Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner in Deep Ivy Green (Click here)

I love it because it dries just right. Neither too late not too early. I have had issues with gel liners where it would dry up even before I would finish applying and sometimes it would stay so wet that it would smudge. I like this one, it never gets too dry or smudge. Also deep ivy green is a great color for that 'bit' of drama!

3.CLINIQUE Airbrush Concealer Illuminates, Perfects (Click here)

It does everything that the product promises. However, I stay away from it on a day that my skin feels dry. It can soak in moisture, which is not always required. It's applicator is great though, makes it very easy to apply, not just around the eyes as a concealer, but as a highlighter too. In fact it doesn't accentuate the pores too!

4.Lancôme Dual End Smudger and Liner Brush (Click here )

Convenience, convenience and just some more convenience. I am not an artist and don't have steady enough hands to get the perfect kitten eyes. It's slanted tip makes it very easy to apply and the smudger on the other end makes sure that even if it's not perfect it can still look great. This one is easy to use and for that price, it doesn't really matter even.

5.VICHY Laboratories LiftActiv Eyes (Click here)

I am getting older. Though I wish it was the other way round, I also like to prevent the signs. I don't have deep wrinkles yet, but I want to prevent. I did have some fine lines and a touch of dark circles under my eyes, which seems to be going away. Especially the fine lines.

Match Them!

If you have noticed, then you would know that right after the eyes, our mouth and hands are what we use most. And at the same time, its what people notice most too. Having perfectly matched Nails and lips or sometimes using colors that compliment each other or even, in the same color family, definitely gives the impression of a sorted out personality.

And in this world of creating impression, if thats what you want to create, then this is your key.
